Outline
What is the MOPRIM Move Together app for?
MOPRIM Move Together app is designed to measure your mobility across most common modes of transport and produce data about your daily mobility. The app will report how many hours you were moving, how many kilometers you travelled and on which transport mode. It also calculates your personal carbon footprint. In Move Together, you can join different communities which are either public or shared with you by your organisation. You are then asked to contribute certain details about your mobility so that you can compare your performance with other users.
How does the app know how I move?
The app is based on MOPRIM’s core technology called Transport Mode Discovery (TMD). It will continuously monitor the phone’s built-in sensors such as the accelerometer to determine the most likely mode of transport the user is engaged with. The app also monitors the user’s location in the background to measure distances, speeds and routes taken and then combines these to construct your actual travel chains (trips).
Does Move Together app infringe on my privacy?
No. When you install Move Together you are presented with MOPRIM’s Data Privacy Statement which explains what data is gathered and for what purpose, in line with current data protection laws. You are in control of your data and the data you see about your own movement in your app is for your eyes only. Your data is not shared with third parties without your express permission when joining different communities.
Is my data secure?
All communication between the phone and the cloud are encrypted. In the cloud, all mobility data is stored separately from your personal profile which is encrypted. Access is strictly limited to selected MOPRIM personnel.
Why has the app stopped recording data?
Your phone might have set the app to sleep or you have denied collecting location data. You can check the power management options and set the app to not optimized or allow the app to run in the background or allow the location data. More information in the app guidelines.
Why are some trips mislabeled with a wrong mode of transport?
The app recognizes the most common modes of transport but sometimes due to other disturbances, like phone position or additional move, the result could be wrong. You can correct the modality in the app.
How does the app calculate my carbon footprint?
We use the average lifetime co2 values per kilometer per mode of transport to calculate your personal carbon footprint. If detailed information is needed, you are able to correct the modality for example car being combustion, hybrid or electric.
